Mathew J. Giordano has been with the firm for over 10 years and was recently promoted to Partner in 2024. In his role, Mathew is actively involved in the firm’s Tax Controversy and Dispute Resolution group. Mathew is also involved in the firm’s State & Local Tax (“SALT”) practice and works on issues related to Sales/Use tax. Prior to joining Sax, Mathew worked in JPMorgan Chase & Co’s corporate tax department on the Federal Examinations and Tax Controversy team.
In his time here at Sax, Mathew has worked on various types of IRS audits and State & Local Taxing Authority examinations for both business and personal taxpayers. Mathew also works closely with attorneys in situations where tax counsel is needed for an engagement.
Mathew holds a B.S. degree in Accounting from Saint Peter’s University (’11), where he also minored in Business Law and was awarded the Dineen Medal for the highest cumulative GPA amongst accounting majors along with the Fr. McMullin Award for Excellence in Business Law.
Mathew also holds a Masters in Taxation degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University (’17), where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.
Outside of work, Mathew enjoys collecting classic cars and attending car shows, along with Professional Wrestling, Mixed Martial Arts (“MMA”), and long walks with his wife and fluffy dog.
