Mateo joins the firm for Sax’s Transaction Strategy & Transformation Practice both US and internationally.  He is a trained economist and has an independent and applicable approach to strategy and execution.  He is a functional expert in business diligence (commercial and operational), merger/carve-out strategy, and execution.  Throughout his career of 10+ years, Mateo has advised small/mid and large cap privately held companies, their founders, and PE investors in a broad range of geographies (US, UK, EU, Latin America, Japan, Hong Kong, India)

Within the breadth of his industry expertise, he has ample experience in healthcare and life sciences (OTC pharma, physician practices, medical devices);  financial services and capital markets (payments and remittances, stock exchanges); retail/consumer goods; logistics and the O&G/Industrials sector having been based in Dallas, TX for 10 years before leading Sax’s Strategy practice from New York and Miami.

Prior to joining Sax, Mateo was a Director at KPMG Strategy and was a founding member of the Merger Integration and Carve Outs (MICO) practice at FTI Consulting and the Strategy & Analysis group at AlixPartners.  As an economist, Mateo spent time at the Central Bank of Mexico (System of Payments and Settlements) and the UN in Geneva, Switzerland.
