David Ashenfarb is a Partner with Sax and is the National Leader of Sax’s Nonprofit Practice due to his extensive experience, expertise, and relationships in the field. David joined the firm in 2023 through the merger with Schall & Ashenfarb, CPA’s where he served on the firm’s leadership team and as Director of the Nonprofit Industry Group for over 30 years.
David has appeared as a speaker for numerous organizations, including the NYS Charities Bureau, Nonprofit New York (formerly the Nonprofit Coordinating Committee), the Human Services Council, United Neighborhood Houses of New York (UNH), and the Foundation for Accounting Education, where he is a regular member of the expert panel to answer other practitioners’ accounting and auditing questions. David has written numerous articles on nonprofit matters in publications such as FVS Eye on Fraud, published by the AICPA & CIMA, The Executive’s Guide to Nonprofit Governance – published by the American Society of Corporate Secretaries and the American Bar Association, The CPA Journal and The Trusted Professional.
David is also an adjunct professor at the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College where he has developed a graduate level course on nonprofit accounting, auditing, and management.
