Jan 06 Sax’s Virtual 4 Miler Event Raises Over $59,000 for the Pediatric Patients of St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital
Parsippany, NJ Headquarters, January 7, 2021 – Since 2012, Top 100 accounting, tax and advisory firm, Sax LLP, has held an annual run/walk event at Garret Mountain in Woodland Park, NJ as a way to raise funds for the Child Life Department at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in Paterson, NJ. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 2020 marked the first ever virtual 4 Miler event. Participants were encouraged to get out and be active within a 2-week window in late 2020 to support the pediatric patients dealing with illness, treatment and hospitalization.
Sax is thrilled to report that the virtual event garnered unwavering support for St. Joseph’s despite the change in format, including over 200 participants. Through event participants, sponsors, and donors, Sax’s 2020 virtual 4 Miler event raised $60,000 for the Child Life Department, bringing the cumulative total raised for the pediatric patients of St. Joseph’s to over $595,000 since the 4 Miler’s inception nine years ago.
The Child Life Department at St. Joseph’s offers high-impact holistic therapies to their pediatric patients, including therapeutic play, non-pharmalogical pain management, and music therapy. These therapies are funded by outside support and shown to be highly beneficial in mitigating the negative effects of hospitalization, particularly for patients with chronic, life-threatening or terminal illness.
