Dec 02 Sax LLP Raises Over $106,000 for St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital though 8th Annual 4 MILER at Garret Mountain
Clifton, NJ, December 2, 2019: Sax LLP, a leading accounting, tax and advisory firm is thrilled to announce over $106,000 was raised through their 8th annual 4 MILER at Garret Mountain event to benefit St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in Paterson, NJ. The event took place on Saturday, October 5, 2019 in Woodland Park, NJ with over 450 participants and volunteers in attendance.
The annual family-friendly, run/walk event is coordinated and facilitated by Sax LLP. The firm’s philanthropic arm, The Sax Charitable Foundation, absorbed all costs for the event so that 100% of dollars raised directly supports the Child Life Department at the Children’s Hospital.
The Child Life Department at St. Joseph’s offers high-impact holistic therapies to their pediatric patients, including art therapy, animal-assisted therapy and horticultural therapy. These therapies are funded by outside support and shown to be highly beneficial in mitigating the negative effects of hospitalization, particularly for patients with chronic, life-threatening or terminal illness.
Since its inception in 2012, the 4 MILER has now raised over $535,000 for the Child Life Department. Through the support of event sponsors, donors and participants, the 4 MILER has proudly become its largest financial contributor and one of the most successful philanthropic fall events in the tri-state area. Last year, over 350 runners/walkers participated and $70,000 was raised.

The 4 MILER was held at the scenic Garret Mountain Reservation, a 568-acre landmark located at 15 Weasel Drift Road in Woodland Park and featured a 4-mile run on a scenic USA Track and Field Certified (USATF) double-loop race course, as well as a 1.5-mile trail walk. Kids’ dashes, with distances ranging from 25 to 200 yards, were held for children ages 2-11. Race-day entertainment included a DJ, awards, random prize drawings, a variety of children’s activities, refreshments and more.
