Sep 23 SAX LLP Announces Recipients of Its 7th Annual Founders’ Award
Parsippany, NJ – September 24, 2024 – SAX LLP, a leading accounting, tax, and advisory firm, is excited to announce Brooklyn Debate League as the first-place recipient of its 7th annual Founders’ Award. Out of nearly 225 applicants, Brooklyn Debate League stood out for best addressing this year’s theme of “empowerment.”
Brooklyn Debate League’s Executive Director KM DiColandrea graciously accepted the $20,000 unrestricted gift. Its core services include school-based partnerships, online scrimmages, and an annual summer camp for students in grades 9-12, which provides intensive training before the competition season.

This recognition amplifies our mission to bring the transformative power of speech and debate to students who might otherwise be overlooked. With this generous support, we’ll continue to break down barriers and create opportunities for young people to develop the skills and confidence they need to make their voices heard,” said KM DiColandrea, Executive Director of Brooklyn Debate League. “Empowerment is at the heart of what we do, and this award strengthens our ability to reach even more students and build a more equitable future.”
In addition to the first-place award, two other organizations were recognized for their contributions to empowerment. The RETI Center was awarded second place for its pioneering work in helping coastal cities address environmental justice, social responsibility, and climate change adaptation. RETI Center received a complimentary “mission moment” video package from Beard & Bowler Productions, valued at $12,500. The third-place recipient, Bronx Charter School for the Arts, was honored for its innovative approach to fostering creativity and innovation in the classroom. They received a $5,000 unrestricted gift to continue inspiring students to develop the resilience and imagination necessary to achieve their dreams.
The Founders’ Award was open to all 501(c)(3) organizations, each of which submitted a short video highlighting how they are fostering empowerment within their communities. The top 75 applicants were invited to attend the Founders’ Award ceremony held at the Chart House in Weehawken, NJ, on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.
The Founders’ Award is an initiative of the SAX Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization within SAX LLP, created to give back to the community. This award not only supports nonprofits but also honors the values of SAX’s founders by empowering organizations that are making a difference in the lives of those they serve.
