In this month’s Sax Spotlight, we highlight the work ethic and dedication of Senior Manager, Candy Gordon-Geanoules, and Partner, Kevin Hansen.
Candy Gordon-Geanoules
Sax is proud to shine our Employee Spotlight on Senior Manager, Candy Gordon-Geanoules. Candy received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from William Paterson University and shortly after obtained her CPA license. Candy has over 25 years of experience in the field and began working at Sax in 2018, where she found a genuine interest serving clients within Sax’s Real Estate Practice. There, she specializes in accounting, tax, compliance and consulting matters.
Candy is always willing to give a helping hand to her teammates and finds the time to mentor the younger staff. She believes it is a true accomplishment to watch someone she has mentored succeed in their own career. Between her knowledge and willingness to help the firm grow to new heights, Candy believes she has a bright future ahead of her at Sax and her goal is to make Partner.
Candy volunteers her time with numerous organizations, including the NJCPA Scholarship Committee, Dean Michael Clarizio Cancer Foundation and the Wayne Township High Schools Business Advisory Board. She also speaks at local high schools and colleges about her profession to bring awareness to a career in accounting. Aside from all the volunteer work she does, Candy enjoys gardening, traveling, collecting wines, and spending time with her family.

What college did you attend? What was your major?
I attended William Paterson University where I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting.
Do you have any credentials?
I received my CPA license in 1999.
When did you start working at Sax? What is your current position?
I joined the Sax team in January of 2018 as a Senior Manager.
What are your day-to-day responsibilities at Sax? What do you specialize in?
My day-to-day responsibilities include accounting, tax, compliance, and consulting services for the real estate niche.
Explain some of your biggest achievements in your career.
I am honored to have been servicing some clients for over 20 years. I feel like a part of their family as I am an important part of their decision-making processes. I am now working with 3rd generation family members at some of my client groups, and it is very rewarding to have such long-lasting client relationships. Another big achievement of mine is seeing the people I have mentored and trained succeed in their own careers.
Explain some of your biggest achievements in life.
My biggest and proudest achievements in my life are my supportive husband and loving children: 2 children and 3 bonus children.
Do you have a vision or goal for your career?
My professional goal for the future is to grow within the real estate niche and become a Partner at Sax.
Do you frequently speak at events to demonstrate expertise?
I speak at local high schools and colleges to educate students about the accounting profession and to get them excited about the career path for accountants.
What volunteer work do you participate in?
I am on the NJCPA Scholarship Committee, which outlines the NJCPA scholarship criteria and chooses who receives the scholarship. I am also a volunteer member for the Dean Michael Clarizio Cancer Foundation, and service as the Treasurer on the board of the Builder’s Association of Northern New Jersey. I also serve on an advisory board in the Wayne Township School system for the Business and Accounting classes. Some of my responsibilities on that board include improving the curriculum and providing better opportunities for local students.
Are there any other interesting facts about you outside of your work life?
Some of the things I enjoy outside of work are traveling, collecting wine from all over the world, gardening and trying new restaurants. I plant numerous herbs in my garden which I use to create fun and unique cocktails. I enjoy time with family and my two puppies, which are a Labrador Retriever and a Pitbull.
Kevin J. Hansen
This month, we are proud to shine our Sax Spotlight on Partner, Kevin Hansen. Kevin graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Throughout his career, he has made tremendous achievements such as receiving numerous professional licenses and serving as Co-Managing Partner of The Hunter Group, which merged with Sax in November of 2017. Kevin has a broad knowledge in many areas of Accounting and Tax and services clients in several different industries. Kevin has been an asset to the Sax team given his extensive knowledge in the field and expert skillset.
Kevin’s vision for the future is to successfully transfer all his clients, professional relationships and expertise to the next generation of Sax leaders. Kevin has worked hard to build long-lasting client relationships, and he is confident that he will one day leave them in good hands. In his time outside of work, Kevin enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf and traveling.

Throughout my career, I’ve received my CPA and Life and Health Insurance Licenses, as well as my Security Series 7 and 66 Licenses.
When did you start working at Sax?
I started working at The Hunter Group in 1988, which merged with Sax in November of 2017.
What is your current title?
I was Co-Managing Partner at The Hunter Group and when we merged with Sax LLP I became a Partner.
What are your day-to-day responsibilities at Sax? What do you specialize in?
When I came to Sax, I did not specialize in one area or niche. I have clients in multiple industries including Real Estate, Financial Services, Healthcare, Manufacturing and Distribution, and Construction. Some of my day-to-day responsibilities include planning & advising our clients and making sure their needs are being met, as well as overseeing the service team that works with the clients.
What are a few things you have learned here?
The most important thing I have learned since merging with Sax is that the firm is committed to providing excellent client service. They also care about their employees just as much as they care about their clients.
Explain some of your biggest achievements in your career.
Some of my biggest career achievements are receiving my CPA license, my Security 7 and 66 licenses, and my Life and Health Insurance license. Working on the merger with Sax and The Hunter Group was a great achievement as well because the process gave me new skillsets in negotiation and acquisitions.
Explain some of your biggest achievements in life.
My biggest personal achievements in life are being happily married to my wife for 41 years and raising our two sons.
Do you have a vision or goal for your career?
My goal for the rest of my career is to help the firm in any way I can and be able to successfully transfer all my clients, professional relationships and knowledge I have to the next generation of Sax leaders.
Do you frequently speak at events or publish articles to demonstrate expertise?
I was recently selected to be a panelist for the CPA Leadership Institute at a Mergers and Acquisitions Symposium. I have also assisted in writing many articles for several different business publications.
What volunteer work do you participate in?
While my two sons were growing up, I coached their little league soccer and in town & travel baseball teams. I was also an Assistant Scout Master & Counselor for the Boy Scouts.
Are there any other interesting facts about you outside of your work life?
Some of my favorite things to do in my free time are playing golf and traveling. Some of the places I’ve visited are Hawaii, Ireland, and Aruba. I also love to spend time with my family and enjoy visiting them in Naples, Florida and Boston, Massachusetts, where my granddaughter is. I am also a New York Football Giants fan and my family has had seasons tickets since 1956.
